Friends and colleagues would be delighted to know that our committee member Annika Mörte Alling has been invited to give a seminar at Oxford, hosted by the research group known as Oxford Comparative Criticism and Translation (OCCT). She will begin her talk by giving an overview of the research programme, Cosmopolitan and Vernacular Dynamics in World Literatures, and its objectives (see, before briefly discussing the anthology World Literatures: Exploring the Cosmopolitan-Vernacular Exchange, currently in press. She will also discuss her two personal projects on the French nineteenth-century novel, one concerning the cosmopolitan/vernacular dynamic as it is represented within novels by Balzac, Stendhal, Flaubert and Zola, the other comparing the Scandinavian reception of Stendhal to that in other parts of the world. Detailed information regarding time and venue can be found here. We wish her every success and a wonderful stay at Oxford!
